I Have Forgotten

This is one of my lighter poems, but sometimes my forgetfulness can become a frustration and an embarrassment for me. It often takes longer nowadays for me to get something from my short-term memory to my long-term memory. Of course my husband says I have been forgetful our whole married life, which is over 40 years. That makes me wonder how much attention I pay to things when they happen.

I Have Forgotten

I have forgotten
the words to wrap ideas in
and have stumbled
on my sentences,
taking some time
to get my footing again.
Your face looks familiar.
Does it come with a name?
